Tiger JV plays tough but comes up empty

It was a rough week for the Mountain Home Tiger boys junior varsity basketball team, who came up empty three times last week.

Kuna JV 56

Tigers JV 42

The Mountain Home Tigers junior varsity boys basketball team faced a hot-shooting Kuna JV last week in Kuna, and lost to the Kavemen 56-42.

Kuna came out shooting, hitting four three-pointers in the first quarter to build up a 20-4 first-quarter lead.

As hot as Kuna was shooting, Mountain Home was cold, and although they doubled their point output in the second period, the Tigers trailed 36-12 at the half.

Kuna took a 45-20 lead into the fourth quarter, when the Tigers finally found their shooting eye, and a 14-4 run brought Mountain Home within 56-42 at the end.

Josh Foale led Mountain Home with 17 points, nine on the fourth quarter. Dallin Dean scored all nine of his points in the final quarter. Logan Monasterio finished with six points, Gabe Anderson and Jared Sexauer both score four, and Greg Walsh had two points.

LaGrande JV 65

The Tiger JV opened the Baker Holiday Tourament Friday against LaGrande, and played them tough, but lost 65-53.

LaGrande led 14-10 after a quarter and 32-27 at the half. The Tigers were down 48-36 after three, and matched baskets in the fourth for a 65-53 loss.

Danny Snelgrow led the Tigers with 17 points, Gabe Anderson added 10. Corey Hurley and Jared Sexauer both scored five points, Chris Austin, Logan Monasterio and Trevor Woodruff each added four, Daniel Bideganeta and Dallin Dean both had three points.

Baker JV 53

Tigers JV 51

Mountain Home stormed back from 11 points down in the fourth quarter to tie the game, but came up short 53-51.

Mountain Home trailed 12-8 after a quarter, and were down 25-22 at half, as Baker hit a three-pointer at the buzzer.

The Tigers were down 10 heading into the fourth quarter, and fought back from a 51-40 deficit to tie the game at 51 with 1:14 left.

Baker regained the lead with 36 seconds left, and the Tigers were unable to get a shot to drop, as they came up short, 53-51.

Danny Snelgrow led the Tigers with 20 points, Trevor Woodruff added 11. Gabe Anderson and Logan Monasterio both scored five, Dallin Dean and Chris Austin each had three, and Greg Walsh and Corey Hurley both scored two.
