Boys junior varsity holds off Nampa for solid 53-49 victory

The Mountain Home Tigers junior varsity boys basketball team held off Nampa 53-49 Friday night at Nampa for its second straight win.

Mountain Home shot out to an early 9-4 lead, but Nampa came back to lead 15-11 after a quarter.

The Tigers battled back into the lead in the second quarter and were up 25-22 at the half.

Mountain Home built up an eight-point lead in the third quarter, with the Bulldogs cutting it to three at one point, but the Tigers led 41-34 heading into the fourth period.

The Tigers built their lead to nine on several occasions, with Nampa whittling it down to three, with 41 seconds left. Mountain Home hit one of two free throws for a 53-49 win.

Josh Foale and Gabe Anderson led the Tigers at Nampa with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Logan Monasterio and Corey Hurley both scored eight points, Jared Sexauer added five, and

Dallin Dean scored three.

The win evened the Tigers season record at 2-2, and put them 2-0 in conference play.
