Lady Tiger sophs improve to 5-0

The Mountain Home Lady Tiger sophomores improved to 5-0 on the season with girls basketball wins over Nampa and Jerome last week.

The Mountain Home Lady Tiger sophomores built up an early lead and hung on for a 29-24 conference win over the Nampa sophomores last Wednesday in Nampa.

Mountain Home led 4-2 after a quarter, and stretched it to 13-6 at the half. The Lady Tigers increased their lead to 27-15 heading into the fourth quarter, and despite scoring just two points in the final eight minutes, won, 29-24.

Alex Schmidt led the Mountain Home scoring with 13 points, Lindsay Sessions added six, Rachel Warila, four, Amanda Osborn, Jennica Quintal and Fatima Guillen each scored two points.

Jerome 29

The Lady Tigers overcame an early deficit to beat Jerome 42-29 Saturday in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.

The Lady Tigers trailed Jerome, 5-0, early, but battled back to lead 8-7 after a quarter. They fell behind 13-10 early in the second period, but a 12-0 run put them up 22-13 at the half, and they led 30-21 after three. Their biggest lead of the game was 40-22, and they coasted from there to a 42-29 win.

Three Mountain Home girls scored in double figures, led by Arlene Futch with 14. Rachel Warila and Alex Schmidt both added 10 points, Amanda Osborn scored six, and Lindsay Sessions, two.

The Lady Tiger sophomores improved to 5-0 overall, and 2-0 in conference. They played at home against Kuna yesterday, and play at Columbia Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
