Tiger boys JV opens season falling to Timberline, Vallivue

The Mountain Home Tiger junior varsity boys basketball team opened the season with losses to Timberline and Vallivue.

Timberline 64

Timberline outscored Mountain Home 29-10 in the second quarter to pull away for a 64-36 win over the Tiger JV Thursday night in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.

Mountain Home came out and played the Wolves tough in the first quarter, trailing by just a point, 10-9, after a quarter, but Timberline lit it up in the second quarter to run to a 39-19 halftime lead.

The Wolves led, 51-34, heading into the fourth quarter and Mountain Home managed just two free throws in the final eight minutes as the Wolves won handily, 64-36.

"I thought we just ran out of gas a little bit," said Tiger JV boys basketball coach Richard Suber.

Josh Foale led the Tigers in scoring with 14 points, Logan Monasterio added 10. Gabe Anderson scored six points, Jared Sexauer, four, Greg Walsh and Dallin Dean, both scored one.

Vallivue 57

Mtn. Home 48

The Tiger JV battled Vallivue tough the whole ball game, but came up short on the scoreboard, 57-48 Friday night at Vallivue.

The lead went back and forth in the first period, with Vallivue on top, 18-16, after a quarter. The Falcons led, 35-32, at halftime, and were up, 48-43, heading into the final quarter.

Mountain Home went over six and a half minutes without scoring in the fourth quarter, but still kept it close, losing to the Falcons, 57-48.

"I thought we executed a lot better tonight against a quality opponent," said Coach Suber. "I'm looking forward to our 4A conference season, and I think we're going to have some good success."

Jared Sexauer led the Tigers in scoring with 14 points, Logan Monasterio added nine, Gabe Anderson and Corey Hurley both netted seven, Dallin Dean, five, Daniel Bideganeta, Chris Austin and Josh Foale each scored two points.

The Tiger JV returns to action Thursday evening at 6 p.m. against Columbia's JV in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.
