The Mountain Home Lady Tigers dropped conference volleyball matches on the road last week in Nampa, losing at Columbia and Skyview.

Columbia 3

Mountain Home 1

The Lady Tigers lost at Columbia in four games Tuesday night.

They dropped the first game, 21-25, and the second, 22-25. They did manage a win in game three, squeaking past the Lady Wildcats, 25-23, but dropped game four, 19-25, to lose the match, 1-3.

"I thought Hannah Zamora had a great defensive night," said Mountain Home Lady Tiger volleyball coach Sarah DeVore.

"Chantell Crane came out very aggressive, offensively, and if our passing and our defense were backing Brandie Riggs up, she really put the ball into play at times when it looked like it wasn't going to make it, so she held down the court a lot for us, but we just need more consistency on our defense and our passing, and overall leadership on the court, and we can do things down the stretch."

Brandie Riggs was 10/11 serving, and had 10 assists. Chantell Crane had 11 kills, Hannah Zamora was 11/11 on serves and had 16 digs, Katie Price was 13/13 on serves, and Nickayla Skinner was 15/17 on serves.

Skyview 3

Mountain Home 0

Mountain Home went to Skyview in Nampa on Thursday and lost in three straight games to the Lady Hawks.

The Lady Tigers lost the first game, 14-25, battled tough in the second game before losing 18-25, and dropped game three, 8-25, to lose the match, 0-3.

Chantell Crane had four kills for the Lady Tigers, Emily Moranda had three kills. Brandie Riggs had seven assists and one service ace.

Mountain Home competed at the Wood River Invitational over the weekend, and dropped matches to Hillcrest and Wood River on Friday and lost to Century, Blackfoot and Filer on Saturday.

"Brandie Riggs and Hannah Zamora continue to show leadership," said Coach DeVore after the Wood River tournament.

"We didn't have Chantell Crane, and her presence was missed on Saturday on the court. We saw some real positives. Sara Baldridge and Charde` Huntington came up (from the JV) and got some experience at the varsity level, and Nickayla Skinner overall had a really great tournament, so there were a lot of positives in terms of individual performance that hopefully down the second half of the season will contribute getting us closer and closer to our goals.

"I think the girls mentally are to the stage where they know they can compete with any team in our conference, but we're really working on so many mental mistakes and unforced errors we've had throughout our matches, and once we start getting those cleaned up, I think the girls are going to be seeing what will convert into wins."

The Lady Tigers, 0-7 in conference volleyball, started the second time around through their conference schedule last night, hosting Nampa. They travel to Emmett tomorrow night. Next Tuesday the Lady Tigers host Kuna and Middleton in a tri-match beginning at 4:30 p.m.
