Good samaritan identified

Wednesday, September 19, 2007

Dear editor:

I'd like to identify the unknown woman who assisted Cody Warburton after his accident on Sept. 1. The first responder on the scene was one of my troops, Airman First Class Jackie Condon.

I had been driving to Mountain Home from the Boise Airport when I noticed Airman Condon's car on the shoulder of the road and an accident a short distance ahead. I immediately pulled over to make sure everything was OK. This was probably just about 5 minutes after the accident (well before police or EMS had arrived).

As I arrived on the scene I saw Airman Condon supporting Cody's head and neck while placing direct pressure on his wounds with a rag. There was a young couple, whom I can't identify, on the phone with 911 and another gentleman assisting Airman Condon by talking to Cody trying to keep him conscious.

As the lead on scene, Jackie was awesome. Under much pressure she kept extremely calm and used self-aid buddy care training to stabilize Cody until help arrived.

Anyway, I just thought Megan Warburton-Drake would like to know the name of the person who took lead at the scene of her brother's accident. I wish I had names of the other to pass along as well, but unfortunately I don't.
