Girls x-country team places 2nd

The Mountain Home girls cross country team came in second at the Jackrabbit Invitational cross country meet at Vale, Ore., last Saturday.

Hailey Schaefer came in first, running the course in 23:00 minutes. Alysia Crandall finishing seventh, with a time of 24:46. Jesse Cameron was 13th with a 25:57. Jennica Quintal came in 19th at 27:20, Tiana Svetkovich next at 27:40, Korie Foster was 24th, with a time of 31:10, Ashley Benham, 27th, at 32:44, Courtney Ashford, 28th, at 32:12, and Alysia Caldwell, 32nd, with 33:42.

The boys finished fourth at Vale. Nick Reynolds led Mountain Home finishing 10th at 20:25. Josh Bush was 15th with a time of 20:54, Garrett Wood came in 20th with 21:34, followed by Dylan Johnson, 21:39, Gavin Cline, 21:48, Matt Bernyk, 22:02. Andrew Martin came in 30th, with 22:26, and Nico Pinque was 35th, with a time of 22:50.

"We were one point out and we had a kid stumble coming down, and he got passed by two Greenleaf kids, and Greenleaf beat us by a point," said Tiger cross country coach Doug Root.

Mountain Home ran at the Wood River Invitational on Thursday. The girls came in fourth, the boys sixth.

Hailey Schaefer finished third at Wood River (21:15). Alysia Crandall finished in 23:38, Jennica Quintal, 24:34, Tiana Svetkovich, 25:53, Jesse Cameron, 25:55, Courtney Ashford, 28:35, Ashley Benham, 28:51, Korie Foster, 29:23, and Alysia Caldwell, 30:18.

Matt Bernyk paced the Tiger boys at Wood River, coming in at 18:35. Nick Reynolds ran a 19:06, Josh Bush, 19:24, Garrett Wood, 19:46, Andrew Martin, 19:59.94, Gavin Cline, 20:17, and Nico Pinque, 21:32. Dylan Johnson finished fifth in the JV race, with a time of 19:25.

The Mountain Home Junior High girls and boys both won the junior high races at Vale.

Kacee Cameron finished second (14:33), Shelby McHugh was fifth (15:01), Mackenzie Dorr, seventh (15;34), Morgan McCune, 12th (16:29), and Morgan Conrow 13th (16:33).

Joe Gutierrez finished second in the boys race (12:09), Robert Pack was fourth (12:30), Tyler Bonafe, eighth (13:17), Jake Schaefer, 10th (13:41), Deryk Barr, 16th (14:28), Tim Austin, 17th (15:37), Ryan Railsback, 18th (15:42), and andy Croft, 20th (16;16).

The Tigers run at the Weiser Invitational on Thursday.
