Long-time Mountain Home Police Chief Tom Berry resigned from his position on Friday following an incident that happened late Thursday night that is currently being investigated by the Idaho State Police.

Few details were available Tuesday regarding the resignation or investigation.

Mountain Home Mayor Joe B. McNeal, who was not in his office Tuesday, made a statement via phone from his home saying simply, "It was for medical reasons," when questioned about the chief's sudden departure.

Lt. Randy Robinson with the MHPD acknowledged that there was a police report on the incident but said that it was an employee matter and details would not be released until a pending investigation was complete.
