The Mountain Home Tigers opened their boys soccer season with road wins at Jerome and Emmett, before losing their home opener to Skyview.

Jerome 1

Christian Adamson and Daniel Snelgrow both scored two goals for the Tigers, as they beat Jerome, 4-1, at Jerome on Aug. 18.

Greg Walsh, Raif Armstrong and Walter Schmidt each had an assist. Tiger goalkeepers Bryan Walsh and Francisco Dominguez had 10 saves between them.

Tiger boys soccer coach Paul Walsh was happy to open the season with a win.

"The kids were a little shaky in the first half, but they really played awesome in the second half. They really came together and I was extremely proud of them and am looking for some really good things this year.

"We're a fairly young team again, I think we only have five seniors, so I expect good things from Mountain Home soccer in years to come. We had about 40 kids come out this year, so things are really looking good!"

Emmett 2

The Tigers opened conference play last Monday at Emmett and came away with a 3-2 win against the Huskies. Bryan Walsh, Francisco Dominguez and Dominic Torrez scored Mountain Home's goals.

"It was a good game," said Coach Walsh. "The kids really played well together and the defense really stepped it up. We were missing a couple guys and the rest of the kids really stepped up in that game and it was really encouraging!"

Skyview 11

Mtn. Home 1

The Skyview Hawks proved they are a cut above the rest of the league last Thursday as they beat the Tigers, 11-1, at Eastside Park in Mountain Home.

Coach Walsh looked at the game as a learning experience to show where his team has got to go to be competitive.

"Absolutely! We knew they were going to be tough, and they sure came out like gang-busters! A lot of little mental mistakes hurt us. We couldn't clear the ball and they definitely took

advantage of it. Overall, the kids played good, they never gave up, they kept their heads in it. I was proud of that, it was just the little mental errors that cost us and they capitalized on them."

Danny Snelgrow scored Mountain Home's lone goal.

The Tigers were at Middleton on Monday, and travel to Columbia High School in Nampa for a 6 p.m. game this evening.
