Wednesday, August 15, 2007

The Elmore Medical Center Foundation held its 6th Annual Golf Classic and Silent Saturday, raising more that $10,000 for a Zoll Defibrillator for the hospital and to support the growing endowment fund.

The event was attended by 122 golfers playing at Desert Canyon Golf Course making it the best attended Foundation tournament to date.

The winning team was John Bitrick, Steven Bitrick, Jimmy Schipani and Micael Olexa.

Second place was awarded to Col. Jerry Whitney, Terrell Holmon, Derek Harris and Nathaniel Franklin.

Prizes were awarded to Dean Senger for the men's closest to the pin on hole #11 and to Buck Rogers for the men's longest drive on hole #2.

For the women, closest to the pin on hole # 6 honors went to Mary Janousek and the longest drive on hole #16 was awarded to Rhonda Belton.

A new game was added this year on hole #8 and the golfer to land their ball closest to the center stripe on the fairway was Ric Bonecher.

The foundation was established in the fall of 2001 to provide ongoing financial and community support to Elmore Medical Center. The Annual Golf Classic and Silent Auction fundraising helps to purchase equipment and grow the Foundation endowment fund.

In previous years the foundation purchased a van for the Long Term Care Unit, a portable bone density scanner, provided funding support for the construction of the helipad and towards the purchase of the C-Arm Digital X-ray machine.

In 2005 the foundation established the endowment fund, created to provide ongoing financial support for Elmore Medical Center.
