County clean-up effort lauded

Wednesday, August 15, 2007

Dear editor:

Thank you to the Elmore County Growth and Development Department and Mr. Garza for a job well done in our area. Mountain Home and through out the whole country has a multitude of unsightly properties and yards and there are laws to cover it all.

Junk cars, auto parts, broken toys, old furniture, rotten lumber, trailers loaded with garbage and tree trimmings. There all harbor rats and vermin which make for hazardous health problems and fire dangers. This all lowers property values too.

Our area was spotted and Mr. Garza took care of it efficiently and professionally by citing the hordes of people with infractions.

I was told that the cited houses are given so many days to get it cleaned up and hauled out. It carries penalties and fines if not done. A call back is made to see that it is completed.

We have lived here at this house for 24 years and watched the whole area go down hill. I am so thankful someone is finally dealing with the problems.

I also have learned our county commissioners got this whole department going and on a roll to clean up this county. To you I also say thank you.

Mr. Garza and Commissioners, you won't get awards on "how to make friends and influence people," but you will get one for plain old "guts."
