George was born on Dec. 29, 1938, to Charles and Irene Hoot, in River Rouge, Mich., and spent his youth working for Great Lakes Steel for 15 years as a rigger/welder.
He married and had five children. He moved to Idaho 30 years ago and opened a welding shop.
George liked to hunt and fish. Fishing was a passion when his sons came to visit, his family noted, adding, "George was a very strong willed person and people that knew him close knew he was full of compassion and had a heart of gold."
