Funeral services were held Tuesday July 31, at Rost Funeral Home. Arrangements were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.
George was born on Feb. 23, 1921, at Barney Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., the son of George E. J. Zack and Ethel May Quasebarth. George went to different schools in Georgia and Missouri and graduated from high school in Atlanta, Ga. He joined the United States Army in 1939 and while stationed in Alabama he met Irene Wright working as a waitress at his favorite restaurant. Two weeks later they were married on Sept. 2, 1942.
George later worked for two electric companies until joining the United States Air Force in January 1948. His service years moved him to Illinois, Texas, Alaska, California, Utah, Colorado, France, Spain and Idaho.
While in France they adopted their son Edward Joseph Zack, on Oct.19, 1956. George then got orders to Spain and while stationed in Spain they got the news that there was a little girl up for adoption so on Dec. 18, 1959, they adopted their daughter, Joanne, so back to France they went.
From France they received orders to Mountain Home Air Force Base in March 1962, where he retired after 24 years of military service in February 1966.
He later worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Pacello Vending and Inland Vending.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening macrameing lawn chairs and traveling and most of all he loved his wife, Irene, and his children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his family said.
George is survived by: his daughter, Joanne, and her husband Jeff Reyes, of Mountain Home; his son Edward Joseph Zack of Boise; two sisters, Margaret Harper and May Robinson and their families, both of Missouri; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, and one sister.
