Letter to the Editor

What? Editor ruins fair?

Wednesday, August 1, 2007

Dear editor:

I realize that you, Kelly, are the editor.

Some of the things that you put in the Mountain Home News are your opinions and not news or anything that the public cares to hear from you about. The last thing that comes to my mind is the coverage that you gave the Elmore County Fair.

The carnival canceling was not a big deal until you published, the last two weeks, the fact that it had cancelled and that the fair would probably not be successful. I'm sure that the fair was very successful. It's not all about the carnival. You wrote in your article that they had rented Blow Up Toys for the kids to play in but you failed to mention that many local business people set up booths at the fair andwere there for the fair. In fact, I think that there are many people that would rather go to the fair if they are not going to have to struggle with their children about wether they will enjoy the animals and the displays or if they will pay, way too much, so they can go on carnival rides.

Sometimes you don't seem to think before you print and sometimes it is hurtful to someone. One more thing. Everyone has their own thoughts and opinions about the war, the president, and such things. We are all seeing all of this on National TV, local TV, newspapers, magazines, and every other media constantly.

Your thoughts on this matter is not news. And furthermore no one cares about your thoughts and opinions on these matters.

Why can't you have more local coverage on matters of the city, county, and things that matter in our lives. Maybe more about the mosquito and West Nile problem. Things that impact our lives.

I don't really think that this letter will be published in the paper but I hope that you read it and think about what you are doing and saying before it is published.
