The Western Elmore County Recreation District will be hosting its 3rd Annual Kid's Fun Run/Walk "for children of all ages" on Saturday, July 21.

Children under 9 must be accompanied by someone 16 or older.

"The event is free of charge and I encourage parents to sign up and walk with their children," said Teri Smith, event coordinator. "It is a way to teach kids that exercise can be fun."

The Fun Run/Walk will start from the Elks Lodge 325 S. 3rd West St., where Elmore Medical Center will be hosting its Children's Health Fair.

The agenda for the walk will have pre-registered participants checking in at 9:30 a.m. Late registration will be from 9:15- 9:45 a.m. There will be a brief warm-up at 9:45 a.m. at which time the Costco mascot will make an appearance.

The fun run/walk starts at 10 a.m. After the run/walk participants will enjoy yogurt and milk donated by the United Dairy Council.

All children participants will be registered into the drawing for some cool prizes. Four different baskets of summer fun activities, two Roaring Springs day passes, Boondocks round of miniature golf passes, a set of official speed stacking cups with CD, and other items are among the drawing items offered.

Participants are encouraged to register prior to the event at 140 N. 3rd East St., Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call 580-2377 or 599-0906 for more information.
