Garden tour says thanks

Wednesday, June 27, 2007

Dear editor:

On behalf of the Mountain Home Arts Council and Beta Zeta Civic Club, we would like to thank the community for supporting our 11th annual Garden Tour, "Art by the Yard."

The funds raised will allow us to increase the amount of the scholarships in 2008 that will be given to high school students pursuing a degree in an art field and to the Log Cabin Literary Scholarship.

Our sincerest appreciation and thanks to the garden owners; Henry and Linda Ashby, Maureen Brett, Lloyd and Peggy Hayes, Freida Jones, Dave and Debby Sandberg, Jon and Jen Sowers of Dusty Rose Inn and Servando and Elena Vega.

Special thanks to the following generous Visual Artists for donating their time and talents; Don Collins, K.C. Duerig, Charlotte Moody-Emerson, Cynthia Henstock, Marcus Mashburn and Bill Trueba. Thanks, too, to student artist Laura Lothrop for the poster and brochure design.

The Elmore County Master Gardeners were a big addition to the gardens this year and we thank them for sharing their gardening knowledge. They were: Jerry Cunningham, Mike Miller, Tracy Coyne, Ron and Barbara Stewart, Tiffany Davis, Cristine Groat, Marilyn Cromar, Maggie Collett, Brett Blethen, Cass Battenberg and Barb Baker.

The "after tour" social and auction held in the Basque Park was a fun event, due in part, to the following contributors: Emcee, Bob Roberts; Auctioneer, Daryl Rhead; Village Art Center, Donna Hart; Cannela Winery, Claudia Morrison and Herb Baskets, Jan Landon.

Our thanks and appreciation to the Mountain Home News for the great coverage of the Garden Tour and to the following supporters of the event: Mountain Home Parks and Recreation; Albertson's; Paul's Market; Wal-Mart Supercenter; KTVB Channel 7; KMHI Radio; The Idaho Statesman and the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce.

We appreciate the following businesses for their financial support; Yard Creations, Mulberry Place, Flowers by the Pot, Buehler Landscapes, Carmela Winery, Grandma Gwen's, Village Art Center and Mountain Home Auto Ranch.

The Garden Tour Committee is already looking forward to the 12th annual Garden Tour, which will be held on June 21, 2008. See you there!
