Almost 100 people turned out to play in the 6th Annual Tiger Open golf tournament held at Desert Canyon Golf Course in Mountain Home on Saturday afternoon.

Everyone was in good spirits as they navigated their way around the 18-hole course in the hot afternoon sun to raise funds for the school district activities program.

The popular annual event typically raises about $5,000 each year that is used to support activities in the local schools, according to organizer John Clark.

This year there were 24 four-person teams competing in the event, with the school district well represented by several teams, the Mountain Home Fire Department with a good showing of players, the Lions Club and many others participating in the fundraiser.

Teams were required to find sponsors in the community to fund their playing spot in the tournament with a banner sponsorship available for $60 or a helmet sponsorship selling for $100 with pin sponsorships going for $25.

The winners this year were the team of Stephen Bitrick, John Bitrick, Will Cisna, and John Sloan with a score of 54.

In the Men's division, Blaine Miller was the winner and for the Women's division it was Karri Reynolds.

After the teams finished playing, everyone enjoyed some food and refreshments before the silent auction and raffle took place.

Brian Floyd was the high bidder of the float tube, donated by Buck's Bags, with a winning bid of $100.

Some of the high school athletic coaches played as a team.

"This was another very successful event for us," Clark said, "and we appreciate all of the sponsors and all of the players for their support."
