Jordan Niksich and Keth Galloway, the MHHS #1 boys doubles team, competed in the Idaho 4A State High School Tennis Championship last week, taking home two wins and tieing for 7th place.

"This was the first time MHHS Tennis has sent a boys doubles team to state," said Coach Tamzy House. The last appearance at State for MHHS tennis was in singles in 2004.

"Jordan and Keth were in the battle down to the last point -- they made their opponents have to beat them," she said.

In the round of 16, the Tigers lost to Hillcrest #1 in a grueling 3-setter, 4-6, 6-4, 3-6.

In the 1st round of the consolation, the Tigers fought another tough 3-setter, winning against Minico 6-4, 5-7, 7-5. Friday afternoon, they continued their winning streak, downing Hillcrest #2 6-3, 6-2.

On the second day of the tournament, the Tigers mounted a tough come-back bid but ultimately lost to Sandpoint in the consolation semifinal qualifying round 4-6, 6-7 (TB 7-9).

"I was very proud of Jordan's and Keth's efforts -- they were tournament tough and represented MHHS exceptionally well in character and competitiveness," said Coach House.

"Jordan and Keth will be back next year along with 10 other varsity players and a strong JV moving up. Tiger Tennis is now 'on court' for Mountain Home."
