Crazee Daze this Saturday; carnival opens Thursday

Carnival will open Thursday for Crazee Daze.

The 41st Annual Crazee Daze celebration in downtown Mountain Home kicks off this Saturday, May 19.

But activities actually begin tomorrow, Thursday, when the carnival acquired for Crazee Daze sets up in Railroad Park.

The carnival will feature rides and attractions from the same company that provides carnival entertainment at the Elmore County Fair.

Advance tickets for the carnival are available through 5 p.m. today at the Mountain Home News. Sales at all other sites will be discontinued after noon today (Wednesday) at Paul's Market, Idaho Independent Bank, Taco John's, Grinde's, Moxie Java and the Chamber of Commerce office. Advance ticket sales will not be available once the carnival opens.

One-day advance-sale tickets, which provide rides all day for one day, are $10, a $7 savings over tickets sold after the carnival opens.

Like the carnival at the fair, player's bonus coupons are given for every $1 spent on games at the carnival's midway. Win or lose at the games, the coupons can be redeemed for some of the same prizes offered at the game booths.

Tickets purchased for the carnival also come with discount coupons of $1 for any large or medium drink with a food purchase, $1 off any bag of cotton candy, and three $1 discount coupons for various game on the midway.

The carnival will be set up in Railroad Park Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Thursday night is Family Fun Night, with mom or dad riding free with any ticketed child.

Saturday's Crazee Daze activities on May 19 are a major promotion of the Chamber of Commerce's Merchant's Committee and the Giving Tree program. The day typically features a large number of sidewalk sales and booths set up by local organizations in the downtown area.

A number of events have been scheduled for that day.

At 11 a.m. and noon the Optimist cheerleaders will be performing on E. 2nd North Street next to the Chamber of Commerce office.

From 11:30-11:45 a.m. the Mountain Air Force Base Honor Guard will perform.

From 11:45 to noon Maurice's will hold a "Red White and Blue Fashion Show" at the stage across from the Chamber of Commerce office.

At noon a bubble-gum blowing contest will be held at Cherished Memories, sponsored by Paul's Market.

At 12:30 p.m. a pet costume judging contest, sponsored by Canine Corral, will be held at the Idaho Youth Ranch.

From 1-1:30 p.m. "Rockin' Rod" will be performing in the street adjacent to the Chamber office.

He will be followed by "Rattlesnake Creek," which will provide musical entertainment until 2:30 p.m.

From 2:30-3 p.m. the ECHO Folkloric Dancers will perform.

The Idaho Army National Guard also will have a Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle on display in the street next to the Chamber office.

American flags will be set up in the area by Boy Scout Troop 57.

The food, craft and vendor booths that will fill the downtown sidewalks are all scheduled to open at 10 a.m.

In addition, the city's volunteer fire department will be soliciting donations for the annual Fourth of July fireworks display.
