Two die in weekend crash

Elmore County deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident early Sunday morning that left two people dead. Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found that a male occupant, identified as James Robert Garner of Mountain Home, had been ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

A female passenger, Juanita Ramirez of Mountain Home, was transported to Elmore Medical Center for treatment and later died from injuries sustained in the accident.

Two other unknown passengers in the vehicle did not suffer serious injuries and were released.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Idaho State Police, and the Elmore County Sheriff's Office is conducting a criminal investigation into the crash, which occurred on Aguirre Road, south of Mountain Home.

The Sheriff's Office described it as a "complex" investigation and believe that alcohol could have been a factor in the accident.
