Darkness ended the final match of the day in the #3 girls singles match for Cristen Hoover, who had split sets with her opponent, but it was a good outing for the Tigers, who won the match 7-4 last Monday at Columbia High School in Nampa.

Thomas Martin (#3 boys singles), won, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. Jessica Lewis (#2 girls singles) earned her third win of the season, winning, 6-4, 6-0. Jordan Niksich and Keth Galloway (#1 boys doubles) won, 7-5, 6-0. Kyle Hall and Bryan Walsh (#2 boys doubles) won a three-set match.

Laura Lothrop and Samantha Morrison (#1 girls doubles) battled back from losing the first set in a tie-breaker to win the next two sets, 6-4, 6-0.

Kyle Clark and Angelina Garcia (#1 mixed doubles) won, 6-2, 6-0, and Matt Ward and Caroline Lytle (#2 mixed doubles) won, 6-0, 6-0.

"Probably the most exciting match was at #1 boys singles," said Tiger tennis coach Tamzy House. "Although Joey Miller lost a close three-setter, 7-6, 3-6, 4-6, it was a good tennis match with a lot of well-executed player strategy and counter-strategy. It was sad that somebody had to lose. The crowd gave Joey a well-earned round of applause as he left the court."

Ricky Guadarramma (#1 boys singles) lost 6-7, 1-6. Christina Gutierrez (#1 girls singles) lost, 4-6, 1-6, and Michelle Wallior and Casey Stevens (#2 girls doubles) lost 3-6, 2-6.

Skyview 9

Mtn. Home 3

The Tigers dropped a tough 9-3 match to Skyview last Thursday at the airbase.

Mountain Home's wins came in the doubles matches. Jordan Niksich and Keth Galloway (#1 boys doubles) earned their second win of the season, winning 7-6, 6-2. Matt Ward and Caroline Lytle (#1 mixed doubles) won, 6-4, 6-3, and Kyle Clark and Angelina Garcia (#2 mixed doubles) won 7-6, 6-2.

"Our mixed doubles teams are playing some exciting tennis," said Coach House. "Kyle and Angelina are 4-1, and Matt and Caroline are 3-0 inmatch play -- great early statistics."

"The Skyview team was very strong, especially in their singles line-up," said Coach House. "Our singles players were battling in every point, but the skill and experience level of the opponents, especially at the #1 and #2 positions in both the boys and girls matches, just exceeded ours -- a good schooling, as we say in the tennis world."

The Tiger tennis team headed into spring break with a 2-3 won-loss record. They return to action the first week in April, traveling to Bishop Kelly on April 2, hosting Emmett on April 5, and traveling to Jerome on April 6.
