Tiger track to host quadrangle meet

Wednesday, March 14, 2007

The Mountain Home Tigers host a quadrangular track meet Friday at Tiger Field.

Tiger head track coach Rich Urquidi indicated the turnout for track this year has been another good one.

"We've been having between 80 and 85 at every practice, so we're all excited about that. We've got a lot of kids out and we've got some new faces and we've got pretty much everybody we were expecting back, so we're looking forward to the season."

The Tigers open their season with a home meet this Friday, hosting Bishop Kelly, Kuna and Columbia.

"It's pretty early to see what's going to happen, but BK is always tough, and Kuna is always solid," said Coach Urquidi. "I think Columbia, they don't have a lot of upperclassmen. I don't know who all has transferred over there from the other Nampa schools. They're probably pretty much rebuilding I would imagine, but it will be good to have BK there. They're always a good one to test out and see where we are at this point."

Field events get underway at 4:p.m. Friday and the first running event is the 3,200-meter run, which will begin around 4:15 p.m.
