Tiger golfers finish sixth

The Mountain Home golf teams all had golf dates at Emmett last week. The Tiger boys varsity finished sixth, the JV boys were third, and the girls did not have a full team at the match.

The varsity boys match was last Tuesday. The host Huskies from Emmett won the match, shooting a 164. Bishop Kelly was second at 171, followed by Nampa and Skyview at 173, Middleton was next at 175, followed by Mountain Home at 179, Kuna at 186 and Columbia at 227.

Leading the Tigers was Stephen Bitrick with a 42, which placed him seventh. Eric Gardzina shot a 44, Monte Rinebold, 45, Kyle Moore, 48, and Ryan Hammer shot 50.

The Tiger JV boys placed third in the JV match last Wednesday. Middleton came in first with a score of 191, Bishop Kelly was second with 200, followed by Mountain Home, 204, Emmett, 206, Skyview, 211, Nampa, 236, Kuna, 263, and Columbia, 268.

Chris Lyons and Travis Goldsby both shot a 50 to lead the Tiger JV Andrew Fields was right behind with a 51, Jake Ash shot a 53 and Brad Yagues came in with a 60.

Bishop Kelly ran away with the girls competition last Thursday, shooting a 170. Skyview was a distant second with 249. followed by Columbia, 251, Middleton, 252, Nampa, 255, and Kuna, 278. Emmett and Mountain Home did not have complete teams for the meet.

Leading Mountain Home was Shayla Streeter with a 47, which placed her fourth. Kimi Hamaishi shot a 52, and Stephanie Hoover came in with a 69.

"We didn't have all our girls eligible because of practices, but once we do, we should be fairly competitive," said Mountain Home Tiger golf coach Scott Mederios. "Our guys this year, we should be fairly competitive. Like in this one at Emmett, we finished sixth, but were just eight strokes out of second place, so I think this year it's going to be anybody's ball game each week."
