Council approves motocross racing at Optimist Park

Wednesday, March 14, 2007

Motocross racing and events are expected to resume at Optimist Park this year after the city council approved awarding a contract to operate the track to White Knuckle Racing at the regular council meeting Monday evening.

The city only received two bids for the contract at the track and a selection committee chose White Knuckle Racing over Pleasant Valley Promotions because of their 10 years of prior experience and "positive track record" at Optimist Park.

The council were not in agreement on specific terms of the contract and tabled finalizing the draft agreement, with details expected to be worked out for the next regular council meeting.

The motocross track would operate from June through September with practices scheduled for Thursday and Friday evenings.
