This picture from last year's event shows one of the creches on display at the church.

A Crèche (Nativity) Exhibit -- "A Gift of Love," will be held Friday, Dec. 1, from 5-9 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1150 N. 8th East St, and Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A display of over 300 privately-owned nativity sets, including a Live Nativity, will be featured, filling the church.

There is no charge to attend the event, which is becoming an annual activity for the church and has drawn viewers from throughout the Treasure Valley.

The event has been expanded to two days, to allow more people an opportunity to view the hundreds of beautiful and/or unique creches on display.

Musical entertainment by local musicians, school and church choirs, will be held throughout the evenings.

On Friday, Dec. 1, the Jessica and Monica Jackson Vocal Ensemble will perform at 5:30 p.m., organist Dan Borgholthaus will perform at 6:30 p.m., the Mountain Home 4th Ward Choir will perform at 7:30 p.m. and pianist Linda Robertson will perform at 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Dec. 2, Sara Hyde and the Mountain Home 5th Ward Young Women will perform at 10:30 a.m., the blocks between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. are still being determined, pianist Katie Gibbons will perform at 2:30 p.m., the Mountain Home 1st Ward Choir will perform at 3:30 p.m., the First Congregational Church Handbell Choir will perform at 4:30 p.m. and the Mountain Home High School Jazz choir will perform at 5:30 p.m.

Parking and entrance is at the rear of the building.

The purpose of the event, according to Lynn Blethen, who along with Julie Vogl chair the event, is to "help set the mood for the whole community," as it enters the Christmas season.

"It reminds us of the reason for the season," she said.
