Mountain Home opened their season at Timberline Friday night, losing a close one in overtime to the Lady Wolves.

The Lady Tigers started strong and led 14-11 after a quarter.

They fell behind in the second quarter, but a three by Jessica Egusquiza at the buzzer tied the game at 31-31 at halftime.

Mountain Home was up 40-37 heading into the fourth quarter, and were up by four with 40 seconds left in regulation, but missed free throws and turnovers allowed the Lady Wolves to tie the game at 48-48 and force overtime.

In the overtime period, Mountain Home managed just three points to Timberline's seven, and came up short, 55-51.

"Both teams went back and forth," said Mountain Home Lady Tiger basketball coach Brian English. "A little bit of our inexperience caught us and we turned the ball over a little bit and they tied the game and forced overtime, and in overtime, they made three baskets and we only made three points."

Jessica Egusquiza led the Lady Tigers with a career high 15 points. Ashley Kipp added a career high 10 points, Dani Dean and Chantell Crane both scored six, Brandie Riggs had five, Alyssa Saltzgaber scored four, Emily Moranda and Sammy Dodge both had two, and Hannah Zamora scored one.

The Lady Tigers out-rebounded Timberline, 45-36, with Ashley Kipp leading the way with six boards. Mountain Home shot well from the field, hitting 41 percent (18/44), including five of 11 (46 percent) three-pointers. The Lady Tigers hit just 10 of 25 (40 percent) free throws.

Glenns Ferry 35

The Lady Tigers hosted Glenns Ferry Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium, and battled back in the final period for the 40-35 win.

Mountain Home led 12-6 after a quarter, and 20-17 at the half.

The Lady Pilots were up 26-25 heading into the fourth quarter, but Mountain Home outscored Glenns Ferry 15-9 in the final quarter to prevail, 40-35.

"We don't match up very well with Glenns Ferry," said Coach English. "Alisha Crane, she played a very good game against us. She scored 18 points and played all 32 minutes of the game, and that girl's a great player and she kept us off balance.

"We came back in the fourth quarter and played real well, outscoring them 15-9, and that put us over the hump. The big difference between Friday and Saturday night was that Saturday night we made our free throws at the end of the game when we needed them."

Brandie Riggs led Mountain Home with 10 points. Chantell Crane scored seven points, Emily Moranda and Jessica Egusquiza both added six points, Sammy Dodge scored four, Dani Dean, three, Hannah Zamora and Alyssa Saltzgaber both had two points.

Mountain Home shot 33 percent (13/40) from the field, with just one of four (25 percent) treys falling for them. They shot 62 percent (13/21) from the foul line.

Mountain Home lost the rebound battle 38-33. Jessica Egusquiza led the Lady Tigers with five.

Alisha Crane led Glenns Ferry with 18 points and seven rebounds.

The Lady Tigers hosted Vallivue last (Tuesday) night, and also are home against Wood River on Friday night. They play Glenns Ferry again on Nov. 21 at Glenns Ferry.
