Two brothers died in this wreck near Glenns Ferry when their Jeep wound up under a beet truck.

Three people haved died in two separate accidents within a week in Elmore County.

A horrific head-on collision Friday afternoon near Glenns Ferry killed two Mountain Home men, Homer E. Williams, 57, and his brother, Carl W. Williams, 54.

The accident occured just after 1:30 p.m. on the old US 30 Highway east of Glenns Ferry when the 2002 Jeep Wrangler driven by Homer Williams collided head-on with a fully loaded beet truck driven by Daniel J. Garza, 25, of Caldwell.

Both of the Williams brothers were killed instantly.

The Wrangler was totally destroyed in the collision, with most of the vehicle winding up under the beet truck. Both vehicles wound up off the road. Garza was not injured in the accident.

The Idaho State Police is still attempting to determine how the accident occured, but no final report was available by press time. No citations were issued at the scene.

It was the second fatal accident in a week on Elmore County roads.

On Oct. 21, at about 8 p.m., Elmore County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle wreck at milepost 117 on Highway 20.

Investigators said Christopher M. Eachus, 33, of Caldwell, apparently went off the right side of the road, overcorrected, came back onto the road sideways, and his vehicle, a 1994 Suzuki Trooper, then flipped over, crossing both lanes and coming to rest upside down on the road.

Eachus was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in his vehicle, John A. Mallery, 21, of Caldwell, was partially ejected and transported to a Boise hospital by air ambulance. He also was not wearing a seat belt. His condition was not released.

The investigation into that accident also is continuing.
