Mountain Home dropped two SIC 4A conference volleyball matches last week, losing at home to Skyview, and on the road at Nampa.

Skyview 25, 25, 24, 25

Lady Tigers 14, 14, 26, 18

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers put together one great game against Skyview before falling to the Hawks, 3-1, in SIC 4A volleyball in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium last Tuesday night.

Mountain Home took a brief 1-0 lead, before the Lady Hawks rolled off seven straight points to go up, 7-1. The Lady Tigers hit the next three points to come within three, but that would be the closest they would get that game, as Skyview pulled away for a 25-14 win.

Three impressive kills by Dani Dean in game two gave the Lady Tigers an early 3-0 lead, but Skyview fought back to tie it at 5-5, and went on to a 25-14 win.

The third game was the proverbial charm, as the Lady Tigers were determined not to be swept in three by Skyview like they were earlier in the season at Skyview.

The game had 15 lead changes and 14 ties, the last tie at 24-24, with Mountain Home getting the final two points to win, 26-24, and send the match to a fourth game.

In game four, after Mountain Home tied the game at 4-4, the Lady Hawks scored seven straight to take an 11-4 lead. Skyview's biggest lead was nine points, 23-14, but the Lady Tigers battled back, losing the game, 18-25, and the match, three games to one.

Lady Tiger volleyball coach Sarah DeVore was pleased with the third-game effort by her girls.

"This team has some heart and they showed it in the third game. We were a little tentative -- a little scared -- I think, of Skyview's success, and that's going to wear off as we gain our own in the season, and it's coming. It's the heart and emotion, and it's coming!"

Brandie Riggs hit 12 of 13 serves and had five service points and 26 assists. Dani Dean also hit 12 of 13 serves for five service points, and had 15 kills. Hannah Zamora had six kills, and Sammy Dodge and Maggie Peterson both had six service points, Peterson had two aces, Dodge, one. Katie Price hit all 10 of her serves and had four service points.

On the night Mountain Home hit on 68 of 75 serves for 91 percent. Skyview hit 92 percent (91/99).

Nampa 18, 25, 25, 25

Mtn. Home 25, 11, 21, 18

The Lady Tigers got off to a good start Thursday night at Nampa, winning the first game, 25-18, but were blown out in the second game, losing, 11-25. They bounced back in the third game, but came up short, 21-25, and could not get their rhythm going in the fourth game, losing, 18-25, to lose the match, three games to one.

Dani Dean led Mountain Home with 16 kills on the night.

Brandie Riggs contributed 20 assists.

The loss dropped the Lady Tigers into a tie with Nampa in conference play, both with 2-7 league records.

Mountain Home hosted Emmett last (Tuesday) night and travels to Middleton tomorrow (Thursday) night for a tri-match with the Lady Vikings and Kuna.
