Girls soccer scores three victories

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers picked up three wins last week in girls soccer action.

Middleton 0

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers shut out Middleton for the second time this season, downing the Lady Vikings 4-0 at Middleton last Monday.

Jessica Hendershot recorded a hat-trick, scoring three goals at Middleton. Shalamar Enriquez scored the other goal. Angelina Garcia had two assists, and Mireya Martinez had one assist.

Savannah Lopez notched her third shutout of the season, getting 16 saves on goal.

Mountain Home shot out to a 3-0 halftime lead on their way to a 5-1 conference win over Kuna last Thursday at Eastside Park.

Five different girls scored goals for Mountain Home, as Jessica Hendershot, Emily Moranda, Lindsay Horgan, Shianna Hawley and Francesca Hale scored goals.

Jessica Egusquiza, Angelina Garcia and Samantha Morrison had assists.

Savannah Lopez had five saves on goal, while Char Kaufman had two.

"It was a nice win," said Mountain Home girls soccer coach Carlos Jacome after the game.

Coach Jacome believes the loss to Bishop Kelly has turned things around for them. "The B.K. game was the turn-around for us, so if we can keep it up like this, we'll be able to go for the district tournament in better shape.

"Our confidence is getting built up and the girls are showing a lot of qualities. It was a good game. I got to play everybody and everybody contributed, so we're very pleased. We just hope it keeps up."

Jerome 1

Mountain Home won for the seventh time in 11 outings, beating Jerome 7-1 Saturday at Jerome.

Shianna Hawley scored three goals, Francesca Hale had two, Angelina Garcia and Kya Vines each had one, and Jessica Egusquiza had an assist. Savannah Lopez had 10 saves on goal, Francesca Hale three.

The win improved the Lady Tigers to 7-4 overall. Mountain Home traveled to Nampa Monday to face the Lady Bulldogs. They are at Emmett this afternoon (Wednesday) in a make-up game, and host Skyview Thursday.
