Marie Ayarra, 96, of King Hill, died May 20, 2006, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 26, at Our Lady of Limerick Catholic Church in Glenns Ferry. Burial will follow at Glenn Rest Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Marie was born Nov. 1, 1909, in Urepel, France. At the age of 18, she moved to America and settled in Elko, Nev., where she met and married her husband, David. They had two sons, David and Daniel, and operated a hotel and bar.

In 1945 they sold their businesses and purchased the Hiawatha Hotel in Hailey. In 1972, they retired and moved to King Hill.

"Marie was an excellent cook and won many ribbons for her vegetables at the Elmore County Fair," her family noted. "She was a supporter of the Oinkari Dancers and very proud of her Basque heritage."

She was a member of the Our Lady of Limerick Catholic Church in Glenns Ferry.

Marie is survived by: her son, David, and his wife, Elizabeth Jane Ayarra, of Bend, Ore.; six grandchildren, and two great-grand- children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David, her son, Daniel, and numerous siblings.
