No Tiger golfers qualify for state

The Mountain Home Tiger golf teams finished sixth in the girls competition and seventh in the boys competition at the District III 4A Golf Tournament at River Birch Golf Course last week.

Bishop Kelly won the girls competition, shooting a 332 team total, besting Caldwell by 11 strokes. Vallivue was third with a 351. Skyview was a distant fourth at 431, Nampa was fifth with 450, and Mountain Home came in with a 459. Kuna and Emmett did not have complete teams.

Kacey Valla of Bishop Kelly was medalist, shooting a 79.

Kimi Hamaishi led the Mountain Home girls with a 116, which tied her for 18th. Shayla Streeter shot a 123, Shantell Beasley had a 124, Princess Young was two shots back at 126, and Carly Vaughn shot a 146.

Bishop Kelly, led by Jake Skinner's 73, also won the boys district title, shooting a 312, three shots better than Vallivue.

Emmett was third with 321, Skyview was three back at 324, one better than Caldwell, and four better than Kuna. Mountain Home came in with a 335, and Nampa shot a 343.

Nick Trueba led Mountain Home with a 79, and missed making state by two strokes.

"Nick had a 10 on his first hole, so to battle all the way back like that was quite an accomplishment," said Tiger golf coach Scott Mederios.

Other scores for Mountain Home were an 82 by Eric Gardzina, Ross Conte with an 85, 89 for Monte Rinebold, and Steven Bitrick shot a 92.
