The Tigers took the Hawks to some exciting games last Monday before losing, 10-2, to Skyview at the airbase.

Nora Fischer blanked her Skyview opponent, 6-0, 6-0 in girls #1 singles. Julie Remington dropped a tough 6-3, 5-7, 2-6 match in #2, and Laura Lothrop lost at #3, 3-6, 2-6.

In boys singles, Jordan Niksich lost the #1 match in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 3-6. Justin Richins lost at #2, 2-6, 2-6, and Joshua Lewis lost in three, 1-6, 6-3, 3-6.

Mountain Home's only other win came in girls doubles # 1, where Breanna White and Daryl Enriquez took it to their Skyview opponents, 6-2, 6-1.

In #1 mixed doubles, Keenan Galloway and Samantha Martinez nearly went to three sets before losing, 0-6, 4-6.

"The great weather brought on some exciting tennis," said Mountain Home Tiger head tennis coach Tamzy House. "Three of our singles players forced their matches to three sets after being down, but unfortunately, couldn't close out with a win."

The defending 4A State Champion Bishop Kelly Knights once again showed they are as good as they were last year, blanking the Tigers at Bishop Kelly last Monday.

"The match scores do not show the quality of play our players put forth against the Knights," said Coach House. "Most of our players were in the hunt in each of the games, winning points after getting to deuce, but just not able to close out the games. I was very proud of their effort and was excited to see the kids step up to a higher level of play."

In boys singles, Jordan Niksich lost at #1, 1-6, 2-6. Justin Richins lost A at #2, 0-6, 2-6, and Joey Miller lost at #3, 3-6, 2-6.

In girls singles, Julie Remington lost the #2 match, 1-6, 0-6, while Norah Fischer and Laura Lothrop were blanked in the #1 and #3 matches.

The Mountain Home boys were blanked in the doubles matches. In the girls doubles, Breanna and Daryl Enriquez lost at #1, 1-6, 0-6, and Christina Gutierrez and Tara Brandenburg lost the #2 match, 1-6, 0-6.

In mixed doubles, Keenan Galloway and Samantha Martinez were blanked, 0-6, 0-6, at #1, and Keth Galloway and Annie Bledsoe lost at #2, 1-6, 2-6.

"Although they lost (in straight sets), Keth and Annie battled through numerous deuces and even got a couple of service aces on their opponents -- a great effort," House said.

The Tigers hosted Emmett at the airbase Monday, and close out their regular season schedule tomorrow (Thursday) at the airbase. The Tigers' junior varsity team travels to Vallivue on Saturday for the JV District Tournament. The Varsity District Tournament starts May 10 at Vallivue and Caldwell.

"Hopefully this team will have some State qualifiers who will compete at the state meet on May 19-20 at Vallivue," said Coach House.
