Tiger golfers finish fifth

The Tiger boys golf team finished fifth at last Monday's Conference Tournament at Falcon Crest.

Bishop Kelly, playing on their home course, won the event, shooting a 152 total. Vallivue, led by Brett Hogg, who took medalist honors with a 36, finished second at 156. Skyview came in third at 170, two shots ahead of Caldwell. Mountain Home finished just two behind Caldwell with a 174. Emmett was a shot back of the Tigers, Nampa came in with 176, and Kuna shot a 181.

Eric Gardzina led the Tiger golfers with a 41, which tied him for ninth place. Nick Trueba and Steven Bitrick both shot a 44. Ross Conte was a shot back at 45, and Ryan Hammer carded a 47.

"The guys are looking better and really starting to play competitively against most of the other teams," said Tiger golf coach Scott Mederios.

The Mountain Home girls team placed 10th at the George Scott Caldwell Invitational Thursday at Purple Sage Golf Course in Caldwell.

Bishop Kelly won the tourney, setting a new tournament record with a 319 total. Eagle and Vallivue tied for second at 343, Caldwell was fourth with 348, followed by Mountain View, 368, Centennial, 396, Meridian, 416, Skyview, 419, Borah, 429, Mountain Home, 446, and Capital, 495.

Lauren Archer set a new tournament record, shooting a 67 to win medalist honors. Shayla Streeter topped the Mountain Home girls with a 96, which tied her for 23rd. Shantell Beasley shot a 105, Kimi Hamaishi came in with a 118, and Princess Young carded a 127.
