Janet Langfitt has announced that she will seek the District 1 county commissioner's seat on the Republican ticket.

Langfitt said that her family "has been a part of Mountain Home since its early beginnings. I am the fourth generation in that six-generation line. We have lived here, worked here and raised our families here."

Langfitt said that she has worked in various jobs in Elmore County "that have given me experience and insight into the position of county commissioner.

"I have been involved with ranching on the Prairie and Mountain Home, served as a teacher's assistant and cook in our school system, helped with the construction of roads, worked with Parks and Recreation with at-risk youths, and in a treatment facility for juveniles."

Langfitt said that "communication is the key to success in any community. Everyone should be informed of the community's goals, budgets and have a chance to express their concerns about those issues.

"Given the opportunity to become County Commissioner I will serve you with honesty and integrity," she said. "I can be your voice and help keep our county moving forward with progress and productivity.

"We can make the difference, one neighbor at a time."
