Irene Lenora Strong Dillon, 87, formerly of Mountain Home, died Feb. 2, 2006, at a hospital in Gregory, S.D.
Graveside services will be held in Hazelton today, Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 3 p.m. A Memorial Reunion will be held for Irene and Jake will be held June 17, 2006, in Eden, at the park. All family and friends are invited. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
She was born March 26, 1918, to Orville Everett Strong and Nellie Pearl (Ward) Strong at Springview, Neb., in Keya Paha County.
She married Jacob Lewis Dillon, Sr., on Dec. 24, 1934, and they raised five children.
Irene is survived by: a sister, Georgia Lantz in Alaska; sons Jacob Dillon in Idaho and Ronald Dillon in Texas; daughters Ora Meyers in South Dakota, and Cora Dillon and Willa Kolenda in Nebraska, ten grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grand- children, one step-great-great-granddaughter, and three great-great- great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Dillon, brothers Edward (Teddy) Strong (killed in WWII), Earl Strong, Donald Strong, and Virgil Strong, sisters Gladys Propst and Willa Clark and two grandchildren.
