Marathon Cheese begins hiring process

Marathon Cheese packages cheese for distributors all over the country.

Marathon Cheese has begun the process that will leading to hiring the first 250 of its workers at its Mountain Home plant, which is expected to open this fall.

Although not actually hiring at this time, anyone interested in working for the plant is being encouraged to register, in advance, for potential openings with the company, which will be paying top wages.

All registrations are being handled by the Idaho Commerce and Labor office (the former Job Service), and all registration information must contain one of two SOC codes as a job preference -- either "Stock Clerks-Stockroom, Warehouse, or Storage Yard" (SOC 43-5081.03), or "Production Workers, All Other" (SOC 51-9199.99).

Those are the two primary occupational codes that ICL will use when notifying registrants that the company has begun the formal application process.

Registration can be made by using the ICL website at: www.cl.idaho.gov, or calling the Mountain Home office at 364-7788, or stopping by the office, located across from the golf course at 1993 E. 8th North St.

It is expected that Marathon Cheese will actually begin reviewing applications some time this spring. Eventually, the company expects to hire over 500 workers at the new plant in Mountain Home.
