Tiger nine bow out of district

What has been an up and down baseball season for the Mountain Home Tigers ended on a down note with a 7-5 loss to Skyview last Tuesday in the District III 4A Baseball Tournament at Mountain Home.

The Hawks got to Tiger starter Brian Fields for three runs in the first and two more in the second, as they built up a 5-0 lead.

Mountain Home got three runs back in the third, and cut the lead to 5-4 in the fourth, but Skyview scored two more runs in the top of the sixth to take a 7-4 lead.

Mountain Home got one of the runs back in the bottom half, to make it 7-5, but could come no closer, as the Hawks won, 7-5.

Brian Fields led the Tigers at the plate, getting three hits and knocking in three runs. Jacob Hiler and Bret Young both had two hits, Hiler had two RBIs, Young, one. Aaron Swartz, Chris Rau, Michael DesPres and Brett Grodi also had its, as the Tigers pounded out 11 hits, but could score only five runs.

The Tigers finished the year with a 9-17 overall mark.

Coach DeVore indicated tryouts for Mountain Home Royals American Legion baseball will be May 30-31.
