Barrie leads Tiger track squad

Kacy Barrie continues to lead the Mountain Home Tiger track squad.

Last week the Mountain Home junior competed with the Tiger track squad at the Husky Relays in Emmett, where she won the pole vault, with not only a season best 8' 7", but also a new school record in the event.

She finished second in the 300 meter hurdles and was a member of the medley relay team that finished third, and the four by 100 meter relay team that finished fifth.

Troi White had a second place effort in the long jump competition, and was sixth in the 300 meter hurdles.

Alyssa Saltzgaber finished third in the triple jump and was a member of the four by 100 meter relay team with Kacy Barrie, Erica Stanton and Kendra Pratt, and was a member of the medley relay team along with Erica Stanton, Kacy Barrie and Katie Roelofs.

Lauren Kisner was fourth in the 300 meter hurdles and Mountain Home's four by 800 meter relay team, consisting of Jeanette Overlin, Erin Mullen, Piper Coffin and Ashley Robins finished fourth. Erica Stanton had a fourth place finish in the long jump and was eighth in the triple jump.

Kendra Pratt had a fifth place finish in the 100 meter dash, and Piper Coffin was fifth in the high jump. Pratt joined Katie Roelofs, Teysena Chatman and Erica Stanton on the four by 200 meter relay team that finished sixth, and Roelofs, Coffin and Jeanette Overlin on the four by 400 relay team that finished seventh.

Shae Ogletree, Clair Gish, Kaleena Bluemer and Andie Sowden were on the throwers relay team that finished fifth.

Aubrie Ferbrache placed seventh in the 100 meter dash, and Kaleena Bluemer was seventh in the shot put.

Emmett won the girls competition, scoring 178.5 points. Skyview was second with 109, and the Mountain Home girls finished third with 83. In all, 12 teams competed in the track meet.

Emmett also won the boys competition, with Skyview second. The Mountain Home boys finished sixth.

Victor Werner was second in the 400 meter dash and was a member of the medley relay team along with Bob Daniels, Nick Barrie and Brandon Sloan that finished second. He also joined Nathan Osbourn, Lawrence Johnson and Brandon Sloan on the four by 400 meter relay team that finished fourth, and the four by 100 meter relay team made up of Zacq Hale, Nathan Osbourn and Bob Daniels that finished fifth.

Nathan Osbourn also finished third in the 400 meter dash.

The Tigers' four by 800 meter relay team set a new school record with their effort in the relay. Lee Pierce, Scott Riley, Lawrence Johnson and Brandon Sloan made up that relay team.

Eric Smith had his season best with a 12' 0" vault in the pole vault, good for fourth place.

Nick Barrie placed fourth in the long jump, and the throwers relay, made up of Kendrick King-Gunning, Aaron White, Levi Vandenberg and Kyle Clark finished fourth.

Eric Weiss had a fifth place effort in the 800 meters, Lee Pierce was fifth in the 1600 meter run, and Nick Barrie was fifth in the triple jump.

Zacq Hale placed sixth in the long jump.

The Mountain Home four by 200 meter relay team of Bob Daniels, Nick Barrie, Eric Smith and Nathan Osbourn finished seventh.

"It seems like every week we just continue to improve and get better, so all of the coaches, we're really pleased," said Mountain Home Tiger head track coach Rich Urquidi, whose Tigers host a track meet today (Wednesday) at Tiger Field against Vallivue, Kuna, Twin Falls and Nampa.

Several Tigers have qualified for the Outback Invitational at BSU this Friday and Saturday.
