Lady Tigers beat Wood River

Wednesday, March 30, 2005

Good pitching, timely hitting and good defense: three parts of the puzzle that generally produce victories, and such was the case last Tuesday night when the Mountain Home Lady Tigers had some of each in a 8-1 non-conference softball win over Wood River at Eastside Park in Mountain Home.

Michelle Reynolds pitched a four-hitter for the Lady Tigers, striking out five while walking four, and she got some great defense behind her.

The Lady Tigers also pounded out nine hits in jumping out to a 5-0 lead after two innings.

"It all came together for us, which is what you're hoping for all the time," said Mountain Home Lady Tiger softball coach Joy Memmelaar after the game. "The girls did a good job today and we're really pleased. Going into next week's conference games, that's going to be a good thing for us."

Ashley Kipp went four-for-four, and drove in one run. Ali Hillman had a double and a triple and three RBIs. Michelle Reynolds had a hit and drove in three runs, and Kim Hamilton and Whitney Hedgepeth also had hits.

The win improved the Lady Tigers to 2-3 overall. They returned to conference play yesterday (Tuesday) at home against Skyview. They are also home against Borah for a non-conference game tomorrow (Thursday), and travel to Bishop Kelly Friday for a conference encounter with the Lady Knights.
