Individuals score wins at first track meet

The Mountain Home Tiger track team had some good efforts in their first effort of the season last Thursday at Nampa.

Skyview won the girls competition with 67.5 points, Nampa was second with 64.5, and the Mountain Home girls were a close third with 51 points.

Kacy Barrie won both the 100- and 300-meter hurdle events, and was second in the pole vault, and a member of the four by 100-meter relay team that finished second. Other members of the four by 100-meter relay team were Erica Stanton, Alyssa Saltzgaber and Kendra Pratt.

The four by 200- and four by 400-meter relay teams also finished second. Katie Roelofs, Tanessa Chatman, Troi White and Kendra Pratt made up the four by 200-meter relay team, and Erin Mullen, Kaleena Bluemer, Katie Roelofs and Jeanette Overland made up the four by 400-meter relay team.

Lauren Kisner finished second in the 100-meter dash and 300-meter hurdles, third in the 100-meter hurdles, and fourth in the long jump.

Kendra Pratt finished second in the 200-meter dash.

Troi White was second in the 100-meter hurdles.

Alex Billinger was second in the 3200-meter run.

Erica Stanton had a third place effort in the long jump, and was fourth in the triple jump.

Katie Roelofs was third in the pole vault, and Alyssa Saltzgaber was third in the triple jump.

Piper Coffin finished fourth in both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles. Erin Mullen finished fourth in the 400-meter dash, and Nicole Roelofs was fourth in the high jump.

"We were right in there," said Mountain Home head track coach Rich Urquidi of his girls' efforts. "We were leading at times, we just have too many holes. We're young. We were pleased with the girls' efforts." Coach (Deb) Shrum, she put together some good relays and had them right in there."

Nampa won the boys competition with 83.5 points. Skyview was second with 56.5, and Mountain Home finished with 45 points.

Mountain Home picked up seven first place finishes on the day. Cory Bernaiche won both the 110- and 300-meter hurdle events, and finished third in the high jump.

Nick Barrie won the long jump and was second in the triple jump. Kyle Clark won the shot put and Victor Werner won the 400-meter dash. Mountain Home also won the four by 100-meter relay and the medley relay.

Zacq Hale, Victor Werner, Bob Daniels and Cory Bernaiche ran the four by 100-meter relay. Nick Barrie, Bob Daniels, Zacq Hale and Brandon Sloan ran the medley relay.

Lawrence Johnson finished third in the 800-meter dash, and Eric Smith finished third in the pole vault. Zacq Hale had fourth place efforts in the 100-meter dash and the long jump.

"Again, we have some holes we need to fill, but for our first effort, I was pleased," said Coach Urquidi. "Coach (Allen) Weygint put together some relay teams that competed well. Again, we're really young. In the four by 100, we had two sophomores, a senior and a junior. I was really impressed with our freshmen boys. They were not afraid to compete."

Nick Barrie won the long jump and was second in the triple jump, and for his first meet, he was right in there. He was also in a couple of our relays. We were really pleased with our first effort of the season."

The Tigers return to action on April 8, when they host Skyview, Bishop Kelly, Wood River, Jerome and Twin Falls.
