After dropping their season opening softball game to Eagle at home last Thursday, the Mountain Home Lady Tigers traveled to Centennial the next night, and came home with a win.

The Lady Tigers managed just three hits off Eagle's Rebekah Tsatsa Thursday in their opening softball game of the season at Eastside Park in Mountain Home.

The Lady Mustangs got to Mountain Home pitcher Michelle Reynolds for 12 hits, and took advantage of five Mountain Home errors to score 10 runs.

"We knew it was going to be a tough game to open up on, and we had some communication problems that resulted in some throw-around balls that probably shouldn't have been thrown, which led to a few extra runs for them," said Mountain Home Lady Tiger softball coach Joy Memmelaar after the game.

"It kind of gave us an idea of where we need to work, and we did have some good things happen, we did have a double play, and we had the bases loaded at one point, but didn't execute to get the score, but there was some good to be seen, and a lot more to come, but we have some things to work on."

Kim Hamilton, Ali Hillman and Ashley Kipp collected the hits for Mountain Home. Kipp's hit was a double. Michelle Reynolds struck out two and walked two in going the distance for Mountain Home.

What a difference a day made for the Lady Tigers Friday at Centennial. Of course, it helped not having to face the likes of Rebekah Tsatsa, as Mountain Home collected 11 hits to pull out the win.

Centennial got single runs in the first and second off Lady Tiger pitcher Ali Hillman, who scattered two hits while striking out five and walking five.

Mountain Home's first run came in the top of the third, when Paula Doerr reached on an error, and came home on a double by Michelle Reynolds. The Lady Tigers took the lead in the fifth, as Kim Hamilton reached on a fielder's choice, and moved to third on a double by Paula Doerr.

Michelle Reynolds singled in Hamilton, and Doerr came in on an overthrow, as Mountain Home led, 3-2.

Mountain Home added an insurance run in the top of the seventh, as Paula Doerr, Ali Hillman and Ashley Kipp all singled to load the bases. Doerr then scored as Brei Draper reached on an error.

"The girls did a nice turnaround," said a happy Coach Memmelaar after the game. "We did a lot of talking about mental attitude and what it takes to play, and they worked really hard, basically overnight. They did what I asked them to do and thought about it and trying to correct some things, and they turned it around with a nice game.

"It was a very tight game, and we pulled it out, which is good going into this next week's first conference play."

Paula Doerr and Michelle Reynolds both collected three hits, including a double, Doerr scoring three runs and collecting an RBI, Reynolds driving in two runs. Ashley Kipp had two hits, and Ali Hillman, Dani Sloderbeck and Sammy Dodge each had one hit.

The Lady Tigers opened their SIC 4A conference schedule yesterday (Tuesday) at home against Kuna. They play a non-conference game at Capital tomorrow (Thursday), and return to conference action Friday at Caldwell, all games starting at 4:30 p.m.
