Helen Shouse, 85

Helen Dee Shouse, 85, formerly of Grand View, died Oct. 13, 2004.

Memorial services will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.

Born to parents Homer and Ethel Duquesne on Feb. 3, 1919, in Filer, Helen was a graduate of Filer High School.

She married Walter Swift Shouse on July 14, 1937.

After living in southern California during WWII, Helen and Walter returned to Idaho to farm in the Kimberley/Hansen and Hazelton areas.

In 1972, they moved their farming operation to Grand View where they were active in community and civic activities. Helen served as pianist at Knight Community Church for 32 years and was a Lifetime Member of the Owyhee Historical Society.

Walter preceded Helen in death on April 6, 2001, after 64 years of marriage.

Helen then moved to Gorman, Texas, to be with her daughter, Patricia Kate, in April 2004, where she enjoyed embroidery, playing her piano and doting over her cat, Gracie.

She is survived by: her children, Dorothy Marie, Richard Walter, Donald Louis and Patricia Kate; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Dorothy Lee, and a grandson, Kirk Leonard.

She will be buried next to her late husband, Walter, at Twin Falls Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Knight Community Church in Grand View or Owyhee County Historical Society, Murphy, Idaho.
