Girls soccer team scores big win

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers came away with a win and a tie last week in girls soccer action.

Middleton 1

A trip to Middleton last Tuesday produced a 4-1 non-conference win for the Lady Tigers over a good Middleton girls soccer team.

Angelina Garcia and Jessica Hendershot both had an assist and a goal. Lindsay Horgan and Jessica Egusquiza also scored goals.

Savannah Lopez had 12 saves on goal.

"It was a really great game," said Mountain Home assistant girls soccer coach Jay Lockett.

"They were about third or fourth in the state and we beat them soundly. That was a great game!"

Vallivue 2

These two teams battled to a 2-2 tie earlier in the season at Vallivue, and battled to another 2-2 tie last Thursday at Eastside Park in Mountain Home.

Jessica Hendershot scored both goals for Mountain Home, one on an assist from Angelina Garcia. Karen Kohtz was the goalkeeper for the first half, and had six saves. Savannah Lopez had seven saves second half.

"It was a hard-fought game," said Coach Lockett. "We've really been improving the last couple weeks, playing better, more talking, more movement."

The Mountain Home girls JV soccer team continued their winning ways with a win over Vallivue Thursday, improving them to 9-1 on the season.

The Lady Tigers were at Kuna Monday, and host Nampa tomorrow (Thursday). They close out their regular season next week on the road, at Skyview on Oct. 11, and at Emmett on Oct. 14. The District Tournament starts Oct. 18 at Vallivue.
