MHHS runners just stand around

The Mountain Home Tigers cross country team heads to Nampa's Lakeview Park tomorrow (Thursday) for the Gary Ward Classic cross country meet.

The Tigers' meet last week at Galena Summit got canceled. Unfortunately, the Mountain Home squad never got the word, and traveled up there to run, only to find no one there.

"It was a beautiful drive, and would have been a beautiful day to run," said Tiger assistant cross country coach Bruce Peterson, whose team stopped and ate dinner and then returned to Mountain Home.

Mountain Home High School Activities Director James Gilbert indicated Monday morning that Coach Root had been in contact with the Wood River cross country coach on three different occasions indicating that Mountain Home would be going to the meet. Gilbert indicated the Wood River athletic director told him he was not aware of that, and with Jerome hosting a cross country meet the same day, opted to cancel theirs and go to the Jerome meet. Gilbert said the Wood River AD apologized for the mix-up and inconvenience.
