Woman dies in I-84 accident

Wednesday, October 6, 2004

Just after midnight last Thursday a Mountain Home woman died in a single-vehicle rollover on I-84 at milepost 110.

Maria C. Delaney, 46, was a passenger in an eastbound vehicle driven by Alehandro B. Martinez, 20, also of Mountain Home.

Authorities were not sure what triggered the accident, but said Martinez apparently went off the road into the median, slid sideways, and then rolled the car several times.

Delaney was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Martinez was removed from the ruined 2001 Jeep Wrangler by bystanders who had seen the accident. He was lifeflighted by NPA Air Ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition.

The accident remains under investigation.

Authorities also responed about three hours later to another rollover accident at milepost 112, but no one was injured.
