Boys soccer scores two wins

The Mountain Home Tigers claimed two of three in a busy week of boys soccer action last week.

Emmett 2

Mountain Home 1

The Tigers faced Emmett for the first time in SIC 4A conference play last Monday, and fell short to the Huskies 2-1 at Emmett. Brady Rector scored Mountain Home's only goal at Emmett.

"They have a quality soccer team," said Tiger boys soccer coach Andrew Kerr of the Emmett ball club.

"They were able to pass the ball and open us up. It's pretty hard to do against us, but they did it quite easily, so they have a really tough team this year."

Mountain Home 2

Caldwell 0

The Tigers hosted Caldwell Thursday at Eastside Park, and came away with a 2-0 shutout win, getting goals from Brian Weiss and JB Miesegaes. Tiger goalkeeper Aaron Swartz had nine saves.

"We played pretty well," said Coach Kerr. "We opened them up and we had some quality passes, which was nice to see, after a couple games missing it, and the guys played pretty solid defense."

Mountain Home 2

Jerome 0

Mountain Home made it a sweep of the Jerome Tigers, shutting them out for the second time this season, beating them 2-0 Saturday at Eastside Park.

Brady Rector scored both goals for Mountain Home. Goalkeeper Aaron Swartz had several saves.

"We played very well first half," said Coach Kerr. "The second half we started to slow down a little bit, taking some sloppy passes, but otherwise we held it together pretty well on defense."

The Tigers, now 8-4-1 overall, and 5-2 in conference play, have just one game this week, playing at Vallivue tomorrow (Thursday) against the Falcons. They host Kuna next Monday, and go to Nampa on Oct. 7.
