The Mountain Home Tiger boys soccer team split their first two soccer efforts of the year, winning at Jerome, but losing at home.

Mountain Home 3

Jerome 0

The Mountain Home Tigers spoiled the Jerome Tigers' home opener last Thursday in non-conference soccer at Jerome.

Marcos Ortiz scored two goals for Mountain Home, and Brady Rector had the other one. Tiger goal keeper Aaron Swartz had five saves on goal in posting the shutout.

"We played really well," said Tiger boys soccer coach Andrew Kerr. "We played solid passing and our defense tightened up really well, and they worked the ball around the field pretty well."

Payette 2

Mountain Home 1

The Tigers battled Payette tough last Friday at Eastside Park, but came up a goal short in the non-conference game.

Antonio Martinez scored Mountain Home's lone goal.

Aaron Swartz turned in another outstanding effort as goal keeper, picking up seven saves.

"They played hard," said Coach Kerr of his team's effort against Payette. "They were tired from the day before and you could tell. We had a lot of shots, but we just couldn't get it to go in the net."

The Tigers opened conference play Monday at Caldwell. They host Middleton this afternoon, and travel to Payette on Friday.
