The competition was much stiffer, but the result was the same for Mountain Home track senior Mykel Barrie, who beat the field of 5A competition at the Treasure Valley Invitational at Mountain View High School last week to remain unbeaten this season in the 100-meter hurdles.

Younger sister Kacy Barrie finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, and the only other points the Mountain Home girls scored at the Mountain View meet was in the four by 100-meter relay, where Sidnei Banks, Laura Kisner, Erica Stanton and Kacy Barrie finished seventh.

Mountain View won the meet, which featured all 15 SIC schools of the 4A and 5A classifications. The Lady Mavericks scored 95 points to get past Emmett, which was second with 91.5. Mountain Home finished 11th with 17 points.

In the boys competition, Borah won with 128 points. Mountain View was second with 98 points.

Mountain Home finished 14th, with 17 points.

Caom Hansen had the highest place for the Tiger boys with a third-place effort in the discus throw. The Tigers' four by 200-meter relay team of Marcus Santistevan, Anthony Pomerlee, Billy O'Brien and Michael Thornsberry, finished fifth, and the four by 100-meter relay made up of the same four, finished sixth.

Cory Bernaiche scored Mountain Home's other points, finishing sixth in the 110-meter high hurdles, and eighth in the 300-meter hurdles.

"We took home a couple medals, which is always nice," said Tiger head track coach Rich Urquidi.

"Mykel (Barrie) won the high hurdles, and Caom (Hansen) got third place in the discus, and he was right up there in first place going into the finals, so he was throwing really well, and our relays did well.

"Our girls four by 100, they ran really well, and our boys four by 200 team, they beat everybody that was in the 4As there, so we were real pleased with that."

The Tigers go to Emmett on Friday for the Husky Relays.
