The Mountain Home Lady Tigers opened their SIC 4A conference softball schedule last week losing to Kuna and Caldwell.

Kuna 4

Mtn Home 3

The Lady Tigers played Kuna tough at home last Tuesday, and got to Kuna's Amanda Boschma for three runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead, as Christa Stanton plated two of them with a triple. but the Lady Kavemen scored twice more in the fifth, for the margin of victory.

Des Walden and Michelle Reynolds both had two hits, Christa Stanton and Sammy Dodge also had hits. Katey Woods drove in the other Mountain Home run. Ali Hillman, who struck out eight and walked six, suffered the loss.

"It was a tough one all right," said Lady Tiger softball coach Joy Memmelaar after the game. "They battled back and forth and the kids played hard. We just had a couple errors that led to a couple runs that hurt us."

Caldwell 12

Mtn Home 0

Caldwell pushed across nine runs in the sixth inning to take a 12-0 lead and win in six innings over the Lady Tigers at home Friday. It was an all-around bad day for Mountain Home as they managed only one hit -- a single by Des Walden.

"We were just not able to hit the ball anywhere but right at them, so were unable to get anything going offensively, and defensively didn't play that well either," said coach Memmelaar after the game. "It was not a very well played game for us."

The Lady Tigers were back in conference play yesterday (Tuesday) at home against Bishop Kelly.

They go to Emmett to face the Lady Huskies in conference play on Friday.
