The Mountain Home Tigers tennis team dropped its season-opening tennis match at Jerome last Tuesday, losing to the Jerome Tigers 11-1.

Kevin Lee and Chris Ouellette picked up Mountain Home's lone win on the day, beating Chance Craig and Keith Blanc in boys doubles in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.

Drew White and Hiroto Kaneko both battled to three sets before losing in the number one and two boys singles matches. White lost to Jay Newman, 5-7, 7-5, 3-6, and Kaneko lost to Curtis bell, 6-3, 2-6, 2-6.

Mountain Home, who forfeited both mixed doubles matches lost the other matches in straight sets.

Last Thursday's match with Caldwell was moved to Caldwell, but Mountain Home was shut out by the Cougars, losing all 12 matches in straight sets.

The Tigers did win one of seven JV matches, as Brianna White won 6-3.

Parma 11

Saturday the Tigers were at Parma for a match, and lost 11-1. The lone varsity win for Mountain Home was by Julie Remington in the number two girls singles, 6-3, 6-3 over Parma's Jennifer Williams.

In JV action the mixed doubles team of Josh Lewis and Daryl Enriquez came away with a 6-5 win.

Tiger tennis coach Phil McCluskey thought his team showed improvement at Parma, despite the score.

"We had quite a few matches where each game was constantly going to deuce, yet we just couldn't pull out the game. I'm seeing improvement, which is really what I like to see, especially since I can say pretty much about five of our kids have experience, the rest of them, this is their first time doing it. We're definitely up against a hard climb, but I'm seeing progress, so I'm pleased."

The Tiger netters were home against Bishop Kelly Monday, and travel to Emmett tomorrow (Thursday).
